RM103m police hq project abandoned?

PKR tells Zahid to come up with answers.
zahid12KUALA LUMPUR: PKR has told Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to answer for an apparently abandoned multi-million-riggit project to build an extension to the Johor Police Headquarters.
In a media statement today, Johor PKR Deputy Chairman Jimmy Puah and PKR Youth Strategy Director Akmar Nasir noted that construction began in 2010 and should have been completed by July 2013.
The RM103,556,694.84 million contract covers the construction of an administrative building, a multi-storey car park and housing for police officers.
The failure to complete the project caught the attention of Public Accounts Committee Chairman Nur Jazlan Mohamed last June. He told the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate.
“Unfortunately,” said Puah and Akmar, “both the PAC and the MACC have failed to present the findings of any investigation.”
Puah and Akmar asked Zahid to answer the following questions:
  1. What’s the name of the construction company that won the contract and how did it win it?
  2. What is the current status of construction and when is the project expected to be completed?
  3. What actions have been or will be taken against the contractor for failing to complete the project on schedule?
  4. How will the delay in construction affect the daily duties of the Johor police force?
  5. Are there other projects to construct police headquarters that have been abandoned?
They told Zahid to provide the answers by this Wednesday, failing which they would come up with another “expose”.
