Shafee must stop agonising Malaysians – J. D. Lovrenciear

What do we make out of the Malaysian legal practice given the sledge-hammering outbursts of the Sodomy II lead prosecutor in mainstream newspaper New Straits Times?
Why in the first place an exclusive interview to spill so much of horrendous statements when the courts have already sentenced a man to prison?
It is not only shocking but certainly appears to instigate Malaysian, if you read what the statements made by Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah in the newspaper.
And as Ambiga, in her balanced wisdom, reiterated, “A public prosecutor does attack an accused person after the court delivered the verdict.” And yet, he did just that. Why?
Is this not contempt of court? Is the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar not going to tweet to take immediate and firm action against this instigating expose and attack by Shafee?
The barrage of condemnation pouring in on the blogs and online news portals clearly registers that citizens are not taking kindly to Shafee’s attacks on prisoner Anwar Ibrahim.
It reminds us of the days of Sodomy I when the then prime minister openly went on media to graphically express sodomy in action, much to the shock of adults nationwide.
How crass can we get? How rowdy can we be? How low must we go with our filthy agendas? Do we not have any humaneness in our hearts? Are Malaysians such cruel professionals who do not know how to be decent, merciful and compassionate?
Is this what our religions dictate?
Islam is a religion that stands tall for its message of mercy and compassion; a teaching and life’s pathway that returns to humanity the dignity and honour that rightly belongs to the Almighty Creator who made man and woman.
Then why is Shafee breaking all these tenets of decency, honour and dignity with all these exclusive interviews and rebuttals in the media?
Why is he crucifying a man, a father, a husband, a grandfather mind you, and above all too a leader and icon of hope for 52% of the voting population by making such blatant and highly instigating public statements that appear to further disgrace the punished man?
Is he so badly needed to resurrect the judiciary? Or is he not further insulting our Malaysian legal system and the Palace of Justice?
Or is he doing this to further erode the already battered reputation of the prime minister and his cabinet?
Will the IGP now immediately tweet to track down the public prosecutor for his most punishingly degrading  and painful statements? Or do we just smile and say, “Siapa makan chili dia rasa pedas”?
Mr Safee please be advised that this is not the Malaysian culture and values that we uphold as the very patriotic subjects of His Majesty our revered Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
Please stop bringing further disrepute to our nation in the eyes of the global community of Muslims and non-Muslims.
Honourable prime minister please put an immediate stop to these insults, hurtful statements and derogatory behaviour. It is not going to help your battle in these hard times when you are faced with a battering ram coming from a former prime minister.
If no one is prepared to stop such disgraceful unprofessional behaviour, then the citizens must do that very job of saving our nation’s dignity and honour for the love of citizens, nation, King and God. And for that the IGP cannot take offence, right?
