WHY ANWAR IS A BRUTUS TO HADI

mt2014-corridors-of-power
And that is the whole reason why the PAS President, Abdul Hadi Awang, is being ‘difficult’. He knows the game plan. But will this game plan work if Anwar is sent to jail on 10th February 2015? Well, as far as Anwar is concerned, this is all the more reason why it must work.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
Basically, Anwar Ibrahim is pissed with PAS for two reasons. First is because PAS did not support Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the new Selangor Menteri Besar. Instead, PAS hand-delivered a letter to HRH the Sultan of Selangor naming other candidates.
Second is because PAS did not mobilise the 30,000-crowd that Anwar had hoped for outside the Federal Court in Putrajaya during his last sodomy hearing. Only a couple of hundred turned up, which dashed Anwar’s hope of launching Reformasi 2.0, like he did with Bersih 2.0.
So Anwar is now hitting back. First he wants to create a government within a government. And this is going to be done through the local councils. Those who know how a government works would know that local councils have more power and can control the spending in their areas. The State Assembly or EXCO can do little to override the local councils.
Second was the creation of PasMa, a party within a party. PasMa is being slowly transformed into a party of its own, PAS Baru, to eventually become Pakatan Rakyat’s third member in the coalition once PAS leaves or gets kicked out, which is only a matter of time and not a matter of if.
Third, the anti-Hadi leaders in PAS such as Mat Sabu and Husam Musa, together with DAP and PKR, have launched a new NGO in Kelantan called Gerakan Impian Kelantan. This NGO will be the vehicle to create another crisis of confidence in Kelantan like what happened in 1977, which brought down the PAS government that had ruled the state since Merdeka.
Finally, Anwar, PKR and DAP will propagate a secular system of government and will block the move by PAS to try to get the Hudud bill approved by Parliament. Anwar, in fact, has already announced yesterday that he backs secular politics and not Islamic politics.
There is now very little in common between PAS and its other two partners in Pakatan Rakyat, DAP and PKR. PAS, on the other hand, is divided between the Islamists and the Secularists. So the move now is to help the Secularists grab power from the Islamists and if they cannot then PAS needs to be isolated and replaced.
It is very simply, really, and can actually work since it is two against one and even then the one is split into two. So the Pakatan Rakyat that we are going to see in the coming general election is not going to be the Pakatan Rakyat we saw in the last two elections in 2008 and 2013.
And that is the whole reason why the PAS President, Abdul Hadi Awang, is being ‘difficult’. He knows the game plan. But will this game plan work if Anwar is sent to jail on 10th February 2015? Well, as far as Anwar is concerned, this is all the more reason why it must work.
