DAP lawmaker Nga Kor Ming is upset that police have forced him to give a statement in Bukit Aman, instead of Ipoh, which is closer to his parliamentary constituency, describing it as insensitive and abusive.
The Taiping MP, who met reporters outside the federal police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today, said he had to drive 250km to give a statement over a comment he made on social media about Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy conviction.
Nga, who was accompanied by his lawyer, Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham, said he was shocked that police did not allow him to give his statement in Ipoh.
"I was shocked. They did not allow me to record my statement in Ipoh IPD. Instead, we were forced to travel 250km for this.
"This is not only highly insensitive of the police (to do this) during Chinese New Year, but it is also a form of abuse of power and harassment against a lawmaker.”
He urged the police to concentrate on fighting crime and not waste time investigating "people who are innocent".
