Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad signalled a point of no return in his ties with Datuk Seri Najib Razak when he said he would not meet the Prime Minister to discuss his criticism against the latter.
Najib also had not extended an invitation to him, Dr Mahathir said today.
When asked if he would meet Najib over problems which he repeatedly raised, Dr Mahathir answered 'no'.
Dr Mahathir, who is the fiercest critic of Najib's administration for questioning scandals involving the prime minister, added that he had not received any invitation from Najib after his remarks recently.
Before this, Dr Mahathir had given Najib an ultimatum to resign as prime minister to save Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the next general election.
He also criticised Najib over the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal, the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu, and the policy of giving cash handouts.
In the past, Dr Mahathir said he gave Najib feedback several times but was not heeded.
His attacks against Najib prompted calls by some Umno leaders for the two men to meet.
But Dr Mahathir renewed his call for Najib's resignation in a blog posting today, questioning the prime minister on the whereabouts of 1MDB funds.
"This is another matter that they must explain," he said, when asked about the latest report by whistleblower site Sarawak Report yesterday that 1MDB allegedly supplied the BSI Bank in Singapore with false bank statements involving one of its companies.
Sarawak Report said yesterday it was given "disturbing evidence" showing that BSI Bank had dismissed documents supplied by 1MDB relating to its subsidiary, Brazen Sky Limited, in Singapore.
