Hasan Malek said money will be used for infrastructure, mosques, temples, schools and education

ARAU: Revenue collected from the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax will not be abused, a minister said today.
Domestic trade minister Hasan Malek said the money would be used to construct roads, mosques, temples, schools, human capital development, education and infrastructure repairs.
“After 11 days of GST implementation, the people are found accepting the tax system but were confused by certain quarters, especially the opposition out to garner voter support.
On criticism by former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad that it was not the right time to implement GST, Hasan said the former prime minister was entitled to his opinion. “Tun Dr Mahathir may be wise on foreign affairs but he needs to know that 170 countries have implemented GST,” he said.
He reminded traders not profit from GST by cheating the people.
Consumers who were overcharged by traders should bring their cases to the Consumer Claims Tribunal, apart from lodging complaints with the ministry for investigation.
