Two religious teachers charged with molesting students

They have been accused of molesting two 11-year-old girls at the school office.

KUALA LUMPUR: Two Myanmar religious teachers pleaded not guilty to child molestation charges at the magistrate’s court here today.

Saifullah Mohammad Hussain, 26, was accused of molesting an 11-year-old girl at the teacher’s office of a school in Sentul, at 9am on January 25 this year.

He was also charged with molesting the same student at the same location at 11am on March 18 this year.

His colleague, also a Myanmar national, Giyath Udeen Kalam, 35, pleaded not guilty to a charge of molesting another 11-year-old student at the teacher’s office at 1pm on January 5.

Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin did not allow bail for both accused and set May 29 for mention of the case.

The two men were charged separately under Section 354 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum of 10 years’ jail, with a fine and caning upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Nor Azlin Mohd Yusof appeared for the prosecution while both accused were unrepresented.
