Umno running out of propaganda ideas

The powers that be have chosen to ignore what they know about the true feelings of Malaysians.

mahatihir dan umno

Dr. Mahathir Mohamad’s criticism of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and the widespread public discontent with his administration have caused panic in Umno. That’s why we’re hearing statements of support from the state Umno heads and Barisan Nasional lawmakers as well as from the heads of organizations sponsored by Umno and BN. It’s the only form of propaganda left for Najib in his desperation to remain in power.
The PM and others in the power structures of both Umno and Putrajaya know very well that these expressions of support are not representative of the true feelings of Malaysians as a whole, including Umno members. They know that the people are suffering from the results of defective government policies. They know that the people are feeling poorer economically. They know that the people are unhappy with the oppressive laws that modern lawmakers would normally not even think of legislating. They know that the people realize how outdated the government mentality is and how undependable our lawmakers are.
Yes, the people in power understand the feelings of the people very well indeed, but they choose to disregard them so that they can continue to feed their insatiable hunger for power and wealth.
Mahathir is clearly a most disappointed man as he watches the antics of the very people who used to bow before him out of deference or to kneel at his feet for favours. They don’t have much in the way of leadership qualities. They were mere foot soldiers to Mahathir. When he retired, he really had no one capable of taking on the mantle.
The situation of today was foreseeable when Mahathir left office. Many of us knew for certain that one day this country would be led by a bunch of people without the necessary conscience and sense of patriotism required of true leaders.
It is good to see that Mahathir is back with the people. He has returned to represent the voice of the original supporters of Umno and other Malaysians who accepted him as their leader for 22 years. We are dejected as we witness the leadership of the country being hijacked by the group of sycophants that Mahathir trusted all those years.
Now the same people who polished Mahathir’s apples are loudly saying that he is irrelevant and does not deserve the people’s attention. They are now polishing apples for the current leader instead, and Najib knows how to handle them. “Lu tolong gua, gua tolong lu.” If any of them asks, “What about the people, Sir?” he can say, “Don’t worry. I give them some BRIM money, but I am taking it back through GST. We are collecting back big money from the people and we are going to have billions every year at our disposal.”
Mahathir is not at all alone, as he has humbly lamented. He is actually with the masses, who want to see structural changes in the nation’s leadership. There are millions out there willing to work on the changes with Mahathir. Don’t get swayed by the publicity given to those who line up in front of the mainstream media’s cameras.
With Mahathir, Malaysians hope to take back the country from the social climbers, rentseekers and looters. We hope to ensure the end of their rule. Some say it is too late for any restoration, but we shouldn’t be so pessimistic. We may still have some time before the world ends.
