"He was released at about 5.30pm on police bail," Nasar said.
He said they had to wait for the investigation officer for a few hours before Mohamed, popularly known as Mat Sabu, could give his statement in an interview session that only lasted 10 minutes.
"The IO only asked common questions like whether he joined the rally and when he chose not to answer the questions, police didn't ask much. He was held from 12pm to 5.30pm.
"Whether he will be charged or not, the Attorney-General will decide," Nasar said.
Yesterday, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad was also questioned for only 10 minutes despite being detained for more than 10 hours.
Following the Workers Day rally against the goods and services tax (GST) on Friday in Kuala Lumpur, the police have arrested several Pakatan Rakyat leaders, including Batu MP and PKR vice-president Chua Tian Chang, Pandan MP and PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli, PAS's Kuala Kerai MP Dr Hatta Ramli, Parti Sosialis Malaysia secretary-General S. Arutchelvan and DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke.
#KitaLawan secretariat member Fariz Musa, activist Hishammuddin Rais, and former president of the Malaysian Bar, Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan were also arrested.
All have been released but still in detention are 23 youths who were also detained on Friday after the rally. The youths, who were accused of spraying graffiti at business premises and using smoke bombs, have been remanded and will only be released tomorrow.
Six minors were also detained but were released on Saturday night.
The rally, which was largely peaceful, drew an estimated figure of 10,000 people to the streets of Kuala Lumpur.
