Nearly 5,000 visitors from India during Bollywood awards extravaganza in KL

The 16th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards and festivities from June 5-7 in Kuala Lumpur not only promises to take over the capital by storm with the presence of Bollywood stars, but some 5,000 visitors from India during the weekend.
Announcing a 21-day countdown of the extravaganza, its organiser Wizcraft said in New Delhi today, other than the award ceremony, a gala screening of the latest Hindi film "Dil Dhadakne Do", a bittersweet comedy drama about a family that takes a trip which changes them forever, will be held on Saturday, June 6.
The star-filled movie will feature Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor and Shesall, in a film directed by Zoya Akhtar.
Speaking to media, Wizcraft director Wiz Sabbas Joseph that the event at the Putra Indoor Stadium at Bukit Jalil, in the Malaysian capital would witness the return of the much awaited annual Bollywood award presentation ceremony to the country after the first IIFA award in 2002 at Genting Highlands.
Sabbas said together with their two local partners, Tourism Malaysia and Malaysian Airlines, the three-day event would be filled with film festivals, workshops, exibitions, business forums and sporting events.
Veteran Bollywood film star Anil Kapoor said IIFA had grown from just a mega awards ceremony into an iconic global platform for Indian films and culture while showcasing to the world the best that Indian cinema had to offer.
"I'm looking forward screening of my film, "Dil Dhakakne Do" and I'm delighted to see IIFA returns to Malaysia, this time to the vivacious city of Kuala Lumpur," added Anil.
Tourism Malaysian director (Mumbai) P.Manoharan told Bernama that so far nearly 2,000 people comprising artists, production crew and sponsors have already confirmed their attendance.
"We also received a lot of queries from corporate companies that intend to sponsor their dealers and staff to make a trip to Kuala Lumpur.
He said Videocon, the largest home appliances company in India, has already confirmed that the company was sponsoring about 500 of its dealers for an all-expenses paid trip, while Colors TV channel is also sponsoring 200 of its staff.
Manoharan said Tourism Malaysia would also showcase Malaysia as an ideal film shooting location with encouraging queries being received on Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios.
"Indian film production companies will be exposed to the facilities available at this one-stop studio, where they walk out from there with the finish product," he added. – Bernama
