SMS calls for airport gathering to welcome Dr M home

The unknown originator of an SMS is calling for Malaysians to welcome Mahathir Mohamad and his family at Subang Skypark as they return from Mecca

PETALING JAYA: The unknown originator of a short messaging service (SMS) text message, which has been widely circulating, is calling on supporters of Dr Mahathir Mohamad to gather at Subang Skypark to welcome the former premier and his family as they return to the country from Mecca.

According to Malaysiakini which carried the report, the text message reads: “Jom sambut negarawan terbilang Tun Mahathir yang kembali dari Mekah bersama Tun Dr Siti Ibu Mithali Negara pada 15hb Mei Jumaat, jam 12.30pm di Subang Skypark Terminal. Tun M adalah insan mulia yang terlalu banyak jasa pada negara. Dihina, dikeji dan dikutuk Namun Tun M meneruskan misi perjuangan yang belum selesai. Rakyat marhen bersama tun walaupun tidak diberi BR1M. Ayoh kita ke Subang Skypark.”

Translated, it means: “Let us celebrate the return of Dr Mahathir and his wife, Tun Dr Siti’s return from Mecca on May 15th, 12.30pm at Subang Skypark Terminal. Dr Mahathir is a noble soul who has done a lot of good for the country… The people are with him despite not been given Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M)”.

Mahathir and family are apparently in Mecca to perform their umrah pilgrimage.

In recent months, the vocal Mahathir has caused quite a stir, calling for Prime Minister Najib Razak to step down due to the many scandals swirling around the controversial 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).
