Klang Selatan police chief, ACP Kamarul Zaman Mamat, said in the 12.30 pm incident, the student, aged 13, was having his lunch when he was approached by the youths and asked to go to a nearby housing area.
"The victim was beaten and it is believed it's due to his refusal to become a member of the gang," he said in a statement here today.
He said the youths stopped assaulting the student after they saw a police patrol car and fled.
However, two of the youths, aged 13 and 15, were apprehended by the police and investigations on the matter were underway, he said.
