PETALING JAYA: Umno Cheras Division Chief Syed Ali Alhabshee slammed PKR vice-president Azmin Ali, calling him “incredibly rude” for accusing the police of being lackeys of Umno and Barisan Nasional (BN).
In his blog post today, Syed Ali wrote that PKR has become so desperate that they were making senseless accusations against the police, which were seditious in nature.
He said that with these comments, Azmin had incited hatred among the people during a political ceramah.
Syed Ali also said that the insult to the Polis DiRaja Malaysia (PDRM,) especially to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar, was unacceptable and reflected on PKR’s willingness to put the law aside for the sake of politics.
“Azmin’s accusations are quite serious. If legal action is not taken, it is worrying to think that it may create a negative perception of the security forces as a whole.”
Syed Ali stressed that Azmin should not have used a political stage to make such accusations, and that as a Menteri Besar, he should have been more rational as everyone is the same in the eyes of the law.
He expressed regret that Opposition leaders often blame the police for offences they commit.
On a related matter, Syed Ali echoed Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir in saying that former premier Mahathir Mohamad would never join the Opposition despite the series of attacks against Prime Minister Najib Razak.
Syed Ali said that the Opposition, having manipulated these attacks, now claim that Mahathir is on their side.
This is not the case, said Syed Ali, because Mahathir is a statesman who loves the party, people and country.
