Pascal Najadi, son of murdered Ambank Founder Hussain Najadi, has slammed Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar for dismissing any links to 1MDB in his father's assassination.

He added that Khalid's remarks had only drawn more attention to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is facing a financial scandal concerning his private bank accounts in Ambank.

"By simply denying  any link to 1MDB and the assassination of my father Hussain Najadi, the IGP draws even more attention from us the family and the general public.

"How come he can say this as there has been no investigation?" he said in a Facebook posting from St Petersburg, Russia.

Najadi also urged Attorney-General Abdul Gani Patail (photo) to intervene in the matter.

"This is not his (Khalid) field of competence. It is the duty of the AG to pursue this case as it is a criminal offence that was committed in Malaysia.

"The mastermind killer is known to the Malaysians and to the world through Interpol under Article 145 of the Federation Constitution of Malaysia," he added.

He also urged netizens to spread his message.

"In the public interest of this criminal justice matter of Malaysia, or better (its) failure, please repost and tweet," he said.

Yesterday, Khalid dismissed Hussain's death was linked to 1MDB and accused Najadi of making the link based on blog allegations.

'Assassinated due to bank corruption'

Pascal in an interview with Sarawak Report yesterday, had said there was more to his father's death than met the eye.

He had dismissed speculation that his father was killed for being a mediator in trying to prevent a land belonging to a Chinese temple from being acquired for development.

Instead, Pascal claimed his father was assassinated due to "bank corruption".

His remarks came following calls to reopen the investigation into Hussain’s murder to ensure that it had nothing to do with the 1MDB scandal.

This was after The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported last Friday of allegations that US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) in state funds was deposited into Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak’s private bank accounts at AmBank.

Hussain (photo) was killed four months after the first alleged transactions involving Najib’s bank accounts.

Hussain was shot dead outside the Kuan Yin temple in Jalan Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur on July 29, 2013.

Police believed his murder was related to his attempt to mediate in a land dispute where he sought to stop the acquisition of temple land for development.

Tow truck driver Koong Swee Kwan was found guilty of murder last year and was sentenced to death.

However, Najadi had complained that the person who ordered the shooting was allowed to flee to Sydney and subsequently to Shanghai, according to Australian police.
