Pro-Najib website cranks up ANTI-CHINESE rhetoric, says Malays have compromised too much
PETALING JAYA - The Umno website MyKMU.net today launched an attack against Selangor DAP official Syefura Othman over her call for Malays to compromise on the issue of vernacular education.
Reviewing a recent Malaysiakini interview with Syefura, the anonymous writer of the MyKMU article said she had made a weak attempt at portraying DAP as a party fighting for justice and racial equality.
In the video interview, Syefura was asked to comment on DAP’s championing of Chinese vernacular education.
She replied that the question had to do with the Federal Constitution. “It’s not easy to change the Constitution,” she said. “Furthermore, there are many other issues to settle before we can deal with the (education) issue.”
MyKMU’s writer said it was obvious that Syefura had not read the Constitution properly. “Otherwise, she would have found out that Chinese vernacular schools were supposed to be abolished 10 years after independence.”
He said it was insensitive of Syefura to direct her call for compromise only to the Malays.
“What has the Malays not compromised on?” he asked, adding that it was obnoxious of her to suggest that the Malays oppressed other races in the country.
“The Malays are the most compromising race. Go anywhere in the world and see whether you can find such a proliferation of schools where education is conducted in languages other than the official language.
“Is there any other country where the Chinese are allowed to dominate the economy, the media, infrastructures, the construction industry and the gambling trade to the extent that they control 70% of the nation’s wealth?”
He said his heart “goes out to” Syefura for trying to defend the indefensible. - FMT
