PETALING JAYA: Tony Tan, a former DAP member has alleged he has documentary proof that shows MP for Petaling Jaya Utara Tony Pua has RM3 million overseas under his wife’s name.
Making this revelation during a press conference today, Tan said, “Pua is always asking about government accounts and saying there must be more transparency but he should declare his wealth first.”
He also said that he was ready to make public the documentary proof pertaining to his allegation but that he would give Pua one week to respond first before revealing anything.
“I have information from three DAP members that Pua’s wife has many assets overseas,” Tan revealed, adding that the proof was in the safekeeping of a DAP member.
Tan, who was the former personal assistant of DAP MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok, left the party amid controversy in 2007.
Meanwhile Pua, in responding to these fresh allegations welcomed Tan to reveal all instead of waiting for him to respond in the coming week.
Speaking to the Malay Mail Online, Pua said, “Go ahead, ask him to release the documents if he has them. He doesn’t have to give me time to respond to him, just go ahead and give out the documents.”
Pua also said his wife had nothing to do with politics and regretted that Tan had chosen to drag her into his allegation.
The MP was just today barred from leaving the country by Immigration officials at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Just recently a video confession by Lester Melanyi, a former Sarawak Tribune journalist, saw Pua being implicated for having fabricated documents pertaining to 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) in the Opposition’s bid to nab Prime Minister Najib Razak on corruption involving billions of ringgit.
