Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Tunku Ibrahim has ticked off an Umno Supreme Council leader for saying that relations between the prime minister and the state's sultan were good.
He said Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi should not be making statements without knowledge of what was happening.
"With regards of a statement (sic) made by an Umno Supreme Council member, Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi that says there's no problems between the Johor Ruler and the Prime Minister; it is my opinion that one should not make statements without being aware of the present situation.
Puad, the head of Putrajaya's propaganda unit called the Special Affairs Department (Jasa), had two days ago claimed that ties between Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Johor's Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar were good.
Puad said there were certain quarters spreading rumours on social media that they were not on good terms so as to tarnish the prime minister's image.
"I met with him (Najib) recently and he told me there is no misunderstanding between him and the Sultan. In fact, Najib had greeted His Majesty before the start of the National Day parade in Padang," Puad was reported by The Star as saying after opening the Batu Pahat Umno division meeting on Saturday.
This is not the first time Tunku Ibrahim has voiced his views on current events.
He had previously poured scorn on Najib over the Nothing2Hide forum on 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) which was cancelled at the last minute in June after the prime minister did not turn up.
The Johor Sultan had also met Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin after the latter was dropped from the Cabinet in a reshuffle late last month.
