NAJIB BANNED IN JOHOR? Posting about alleged snub from Sultan goes VIRAL
JOHOR BARU - The state government today condemned an alleged Facebook post screenshot that has gone viral depicting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak having to depend on Singapore-registered cars for his transportation needs in Johor.
The screenshot showed several Singapore-registered executive cars at the Dewan Serbaguna Mawar in Pasir Gudang for the Umno Pasir Gudang division meeting yesterday.
According to the post that has since been circulated via social media chat applications such as WhatsApp and also Telegram today, the reason was believed to be due to the state government being under orders from the Sultan of Johor to do so.
In a strong response, Johor Menteri Besar press secretary Asri Khalbi said the “irresponsible” post had made its rounds today.
“The state government condemns the posting and believes that it is done by irresponsible parties that want to disrupt the good ties between the Johor palace, state government and also the federal government,” he said when contacted by The Rakyat Post, today.
Asri explained that Najib is the Prime Minister of Malaysia and his arrival in Johor was accorded the highest respect by the state government.
“There is no truth to the alleged posting today,” he said, insisting that the relationship between the Johor palace and the government was good.
The Facebook post screenshot showing the Singapore-registered executive cars carrying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his entourage at the Dewan Serbaguna Taman Mawar in Pasir Gudang for the Pasir Gudang Umno division meeting. The entourage was believed to have travelled from Singapore to Johor and back to the island republic yesterday.
Najib and his entourage had the day before landed at Singapore’s Changi airport at the invitation of the Singapore government for the island republic’s 50th National Day celebrations on Sunday.
The Prime Minister was accorded respect as a head of government as part of Asean leaders who were specially invited for the occasion.
It is learnt that the cars were rental executive cars that were provided by the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore for Najib’s transportation convenience to Pasir Gudang in Johor where he officiated the division’s meeting in his capacity as Umno president.
He then returned to Singapore where he was a guest at the National Day celebrations later in the day. - Therakyatpost
