Rafidah: I don’t buy Zahid’s conspiracy theory

It's voters, not conspirators, who'll decide BN's fate, says the former minister.

PETALING JAYA: Former Wanita Umno leader Rafidah Aziz has told the Najib administration to stop coming up with theories of conspiracies against it and to concentrate instead on governing well.
In her latest Facebook posting, Rafidah said she didn’t buy Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi’s story about a prominent Umno veteran conspiring to oust Prime Minister Najib Razak.
She said it would be of no benefit to anyone in Umno or Barisan Nasional to oust the government.
“It would be like cutting off your nose to spite your face,” she added.
Rafidah, who served as Minister of International Trade and Industry from 1987 to 2000, told Umno leaders to be cognisant that party members were watching their every move, that “certain quarters” would “certainly exploit the situation” and that voters would make their decision at the next general election based on what they would have observed from the “political histrionics” played out by the people currently in power.
Addressing “all quarters” in Umno and BN, she warned them against moves calculated with an eye towards short-term benefits.
She said it would be well for them to remember that it’s not conspirators, but the voting public, who would determine their fate in the next general election.
“Therefore,” she added, “place the public’s interest as your foremost priority and govern the country to the best of your ability.”
