Transfer of key MACC directors: NAJIB & ROSMAH CIRCUMVENT ZAHID'S NO ARREST PROMISE?
PETALING JAYA - Two senior officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) were transferred to the Prime Minister's Department.
MACC Special Operations Division director Datuk Bahri Mohd Zin and Strategic Communications director Datuk Rohaizad Yaakob were told that the transfer begins with immediate effect today.
Reporters spotted both Bahri and Rohaizad leaving separately from the agency's headquarters this evening, without commenting much to the media.
A spokesperson from MACC confirmed the transfer of both Bahri and Rohaizad.
On Monday, Bahri was questioned by police officers from Bukit Aman at the headquarters for about three hours over leaked information over the 1Malaysian Development Berhad (1MDB) special task force probe.
After being interrogated, he told the media that he would find those "who were behind the arrest of the MACC officers".
He was among several MACC officers being questioned by the police over the leaked information – which led to it being posted on social media and whistleblower website Sarawak Report.
One of the leaked information allegedly include a charge sheet with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak being slapped with a criminal breach of trust charge.
No more action on MACC investigators, new Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi had vowed earlier the same day.
On Thursday, Rohaizad was greeted by a group of opposition leaders and elected representatives at the headquarters, who lend their support for the work the commission is carrying out.
The MACC had said that it was not involved in a conspiracy "to topple the government" and is carrying out its investigations professionally and transparently in regards to funds in SRC International Sdn Bhd, a former subsidiary under 1MDB.
The agency had also said that the RM2.6 billion in Najib's private account was "a donation" from an unnamed Middle East donor, but had called the premier to explain the funds. -ANN
