Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin writes in his Facebook page, urging more people to make police reports against the wrongdoings involving state-owned investment firm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). – Facebook pic, October 7, 2015.Those who make reports against debt-ridden state investor 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) should be given protection and not the other way around, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today, voicing dissatisfaction over the arrest of 1MDB critic Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma).
The axed deputy prime minister also urged more concerned citizens to lodge reports to compel the authorities to investigate the state investor in a transparent and fair manner.
In a statement uploaded on his Facebook page, Muhyiddin questioned if 1MDB had any sort of immunity, which warranted it to be protected by enforcement authorities in the country.
"I don't think so.
"Making a police report against 1MDB is not an act of violence and 1MDB does not enjoy any immunity.
"Instead, it is subject to the country's laws," he said.
He also issued a reminder that Sosma was passed in Parliament to combat acts of violence and terrorism.
