Ibrahim said Ariff had defamed him in a post titled "Keadaan Negara Kita Hari Ini – Siri 2" (The state of our country today) appeared at his blog Sakmongkol 47 in September by claiming that the Perkasa chief was a director of company George Kent (M) Bhd that is building the LRT3 light rail transit line.
"This defamatory remark is a false and baseless allegation and constitutes a very serious libel to our client's reputation as an ordinary person, as the president of Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa and as a former Member of Parliament," the letter of demand stated.
Ibrahim held a press conference where he showed the letter to the press, issued by legal firm Abu Talib Shahrom.
He said he had never known the company and had never been appointed as a director.
"I did not take it seriously at first but after the issue went viral on social media, I feel the need to take action, as it affected my reputation and referred to me as a Chinese agent," said Ibrahim.
He said the article was published with malicious intent.
Besides the RM10 million, Ibrahim also wants Ariff, the Raub MP, to remove the article from his blog.
"He has seven days to reply to the demand letter else I will proceed with the necessary action," said Ibrahim.
Arif, who is now with opposition party DAP, was an Umno member until 2012 and had been the assemblyman for Pulau Manis from 2004 to 2008.
