WILL HADI ALSO DISCUSS WITH 'I HELP YOU, YOU HELP ME' NAJIB: Pas wants 'discussion first' on no-confidence vote
PAS will support the vote of no confidence against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak that Opposition Leader Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail plans to table in the coming sitting of Parliament - as long as there is a discussion on it first.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the party’s MPs are always ready to consider matters raised by their colleagues on the opposition bench, but these must first be discussed in detail.
“PAS is open to discussing the motion of no confidence, but it is far too soon to say whether or not we will support it. We must first look at the motion. For example, is it just a motion calling for the PM to step down?” Takiyuddin, who is PAS parliamentary whip, toldMalaysiakini.
“We prefer the opposition leader to discuss the motion with us first. We need to discuss the matter thoroughly, like who will replace Najib as prime minster? Could I be the replacement?” he said, tongue-in-cheek.
PAS agrees with motion on principle
PAS Muslimat chief Nuridah Salleh said the party agrees in principle with a vote of no confidence against the prime minister, but wants it to be done according to the Federal Constitution.
“To date, we have no information about the motion. We can only decide after a discussion on this.
“In principle, PAS agrees with whatever steps that adhere to provisions of the constitution and legal procedures,” Nuridah said when contacted.
PKR is reported to have said that Wan Azizah, who is the party president, will table the motion of no confidence against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak during the coming parliamentary session that begins on Oct 19.
DAP has announced that it would support the motion.
With only 88 out of 222 representatives in the Dewan Rakyat, the opposition does not have the majority to push for any vote of no confidence against Najib.

The new opposition coalition, Pakatan Harapan, which does not include PAS, has 72 MPs.
Earlier, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said the party would only defeat Najib through “healthy” means. - M'kini
