PKR vs BN in Sg Besar will be an interesting contest, says Ibrahim

Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali foresees an interesting contest in the Sungai Besar by-election if PKR is pitted against BN rather than with other opposition parties.
Ibrahim said if the seat is contested by PAS, he is worried that the Chinese voters in Sekinchan would not vote for the Islamist party.
“It would be a good contest if PKR is pitted against BN. In the last general election, PAS was still with Pakatan Rakyat which saw the Chinese voters in Sekinchan rooting for PAS," he said.
He asked whether this time around, the Chinese in Sekinchan would vote for PAS.
“I believe if PAS were to contest, it would not get the Chinese votes. PAS would also not get the support of PAS members who support Parti Amanah Negara. There are some PAS members who reject the ulama leadership.
"Thus PAS would lose two sources of votes (Chinese and PAS supporters backing Amanah). So not only must it be a straight fight but it must also be the right party as well," said Ibrahim who was formerly Pasir Mas MP.
He was speaking at a press conference at Perkasa headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.

However, Ibrahim feels PAS is the ideal party to put up its candidate for the Kuala Kangsar polls.
"In Kuala Kangsar, if it is a one-on-one contest between PAS and BN, and other parties do not enter the fray, then it would be more interesting... the people will have to make the best choice," he said, adding that if the opposition each fielded its candidate, then BN would be at an advantage.
"If all the opposition parties want to contest, BN would stand to gain,” he added.- Mkini
