Umno supreme council sacks Muhyiddin, Mukhriz

The Umno supreme council unanimously decided today to sack former deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin and former Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir from the party.
Vice-president Mohd Shafie Apdal, on the other hand, has been suspended.
At a press conference held after the party’s supreme council meeting in Kuala Lumpur today, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak said the decision was made after both Muhyiddin and Mukhriz appeared on the same stage with the opposition.
“They made speeches attacking the party leadership. That is a huge offence in terms of the party’s discipline,” Najib said.
“Therefore, the supreme council has unanimously decided to sack both of them, while Shafie’s membership will be suspended.”
Najib added that Shafie’s suspension was pending a report from the party’s disciplinary committee.
“The disciplinary committee has yet to submit a report to the management committee as well as to the supreme council,” he said.
The decision against Najib's critics comes in the wake of BN's thumping by-election victories last week.

The outcome of the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar polls has cemented Najib's position.
Although Muhyiddin, Mukhriz and Shafie trio did not campaign actively for the opposition in the twin polls, both Muhyiddin and Mukhriz are actively involved in the Save Malaysia campaign spearheaded by the Mukhriz’s father, Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Muhyiddin was initially suspended from his post as the party’s number two man while Mukhriz was forced to resign from his menteri besar post in February. -Mkini
