Kit Siang is shocked that Najib is not shocked

DAP supremo says what is most shocking is the total lack of shock from Najib and cabinet ministers about US law suits.

PETALING JAYA: Lim Kit Siang is shocked – by the total lack of shock shown by the prime minister, Najib Razak, and members of the Cabinet at the allegations listed by the US Justice Department last week.
Speaking at a DAP event in Sungai Siput last night, Lim said the past three days had been “the most shameful, humiliating and mortifying period in the six decades of the nation’s history”.
On Thursday, the US Justice Department filed law suits under the Kleptocracy Asset Recovery Initiative to recover US$1 billion in assets, including luxury property, a private jet and royalty rights to the Wolf of Wall Street movie.
The assets are alleged to have been acquired from funds embezzled from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), the government-owned investment company. 1MDB denies any of its money has been stolen and says it can account for its finances.
Lim, who is DAP parliamentary leader, said the press conference by US Attorney-General Loretta Lynch had resulted in Malaysia being been condemned and crucified in global society as a thoroughly corrupt and decadent country.
“It would appear that Najib and his ministers were not at all shocked by the US legal suit, as if they had been expecting it and had choreographed their responses” after the US Federal Bureau of Investigations began investigations in September last year.
He said the government’s stance that the suit was a civil one was a weak “cop-out” by the Malaysian authorities. He said the US civil action was based on a host of criminal conduct and activities in misappropriating and embezzling billions of ringgit for the interests of a criminal and corrupt few.
There was enough material in the suit to keep Malaysia’s Attorney-General, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the police busy for years, he said.
