Koh Tsu Koon’s wife Chui Kah Peng dies of cancer

Funeral on Thursday for wife of Penang's third chief minister, Gerakan leaders pay tribute to 'nice and caring person'.

GEORGE TOWN: Chui Kah Peng, wife of former Penang chief minister Koh Tsu Koon died of cancer last night, surrounded by close family members in her hospital room.
Her body is being taken to her home in Pulau Tikus, and the funeral will be held on Thursday, according to Star Online.
Koh and Chui have a son, Koh Yu Cheng and a daughter, Koh Yu Jun.
The prime minister, Najib Razak, who is Barisan Nasional chairman, posted his condolences in an online message. “Received sad news on the passing of Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng. My sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to Tan Sri Koh Tsu Koon & family”, Bernama reported.
Chui was “a nice and caring person”, said Teng Chang Yeow, head of Penang Barisan Nasional and former Penang Gerakan leader. “She was thoughtful about the needs of others. It is a great loss to us, especially to Gerakan.”
Others who offered their condolences were Oh Tong Keong, the acting chairman of Penang Gerakan, who said Gerakan had lost “such a great icon, a soul loved by many” and Baljit Singh, head of the party’s state legal bureau, who said the Gerakan had lost a caring personality, who did much for the needy.
