FORMER SABAH PKR CHIEF LAJIM UKIN SLAPPED WITH BANKRUPTCY NOTICE

KOTA KINABALU – A bankruptcy notice has been issued to Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah president Datuk Lajim Ukin over a payment of RM160,851.81 due to CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad.
In the notice, published in local daily Monday, Lajim was given a week from the date to pay the amount to the lawyers of the company in line with the High Court judgement on Oct 26, 2016.\
The Bankruptcy Notice gives him till April 24 to settle the matter.
When contacted, Lajim said that the matter was being handled by his lawyers and would be settled soon.
He said that it stemmed from delayed payments from his credit card.
Commenting further on it, the veteran Sabah politician said that the bankruptcy proceedings had a silver lining as they cleared him of all kinds of political aspersions that he had received money from the ruling government to split the opposition.

“They spread all kinds of stories that I received RM30mil or RM60mil from Umno to form my party. If I had that kind of money would this (bankruptcy) be a problem,” he quipped.
Lajim is a former Umno leader who quit to join Sabah PKR before the 2013 General Election. Last year, he quit as Sabah PKR chairman to help form Parti Harapan Sabah.
Lajim has said that his party will be joining the local based coalition Gabungan Sabah comprising of STAR Sabah, Parti Cinta Sabah and Sabah Progressive Party.
Former Umno vice-president Datuk Shafie Apdal, who has formed  Parti Warisan Sabah, has so far stayed away from the local-based coalition and is posturing towards going into the next General Election on his own.
