Lawyer: Singapore court did not implicate Rosmah

Rosmah Mansor, the wife of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, has denied allegations circulating online accusing her of signing cheques as one "Eric Tan".
According to her lawyer NoorHajran Mohd Noor, the matter was in relation to a criminal case in Singapore involving former Falcon Bank branch manager Jens Fred Sturzenegger.
Checks with the statement of facts issued by Singapore's attorney-general's chambers does not corroborate with claims made against Rosmah online, she said.
"These allegations are serious, intended to make representations, publishes imputations intending to harm or knowing or having reasons to believe that such imputations will harm the reputation and done with malicious intent to destroy and reduce the credibility of Rosmah as the wife of the honourable prime minister," said NoorHajran.
Sturzenegger was sentenced to 28 weeks jail and fined S$128,000 after pleading guilty to six charges related to Singapore's probe on 1MDB related matters.
He was accused of failing to comply with a direction from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) to report a suspicious US$1.262 billion transfer to two Falcon bank accounts in 2013.
He was also charged for lying to MAS officers to distract them from probing bank accounts controlled by Malaysian businessman Jho Low by claiming that the accounts were "beneficially owned" by one Eric Tan Kim Loong.
Following this, several blogs have been circulating on the speculation about Rosmah's role in the whole affair. Low is known for his close ties with Najib's family and have collaborated with Rosmah's son Reza Aziz on the Hollywood film "The Wolf of Wallstreet".
'Those are her friends, not maids'
Meanwhile, NoorHajran also issued a clarification regarding a widely circulated photograph depicting Rosmah and carrying the caption "Big Momma sighted in Claremont Quarter in Perth - one bodyguard and two personal maids tagging along".
According to the lawyer, those individuals were her friends and not her maids.
"Accusations of her friends being deemed as personal maids are totally disgusting, humiliating and embarrassing to the persons.
"Obviously signifying that the writer and/or blogger is void of any reliable facts and full knowledge with regards to the personal life of Rosmah.

"The allegation and incorrect statements made by bloggers and social media practitioners are lies represented to the public at large which are designed to create and form opinions and judgments that are false and misleading," she said.
NoorHajran was referring to a photograph which surfaced shortly after it was made known that Najib's family were spending their year-end holiday in Australia.
She said that the circulation of the photograph had caused her client's "unofficial personal space" to be "unduly encroached upon".- Mkini
