A ‘tin kosong’ who remains defiant

YOURSAY | ‘He has dug his own hole and unless he repents, he will not be able to claw himself out.’
FellowMalaysian: Preacher Zamihan Mat Zin has challenged Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad to reveal the "godfather" purportedly protecting him or face legal action.
Zamihan had become embroiled in controversy after he called Chinese "unclean" and criticised the Johor sultan's stance against a Muslim-only laundrette during a religious lecture at a Selangor mosque.
Khalid's claims must have riled this “empty tin can” enough for Zamihan to take him to a duel.
Actually, instead of asking Khalid to name his “godfather”, shouldn't Zamihan feel proud and pleased that there is an elected representative who thinks his antics are good and adroit enough to mobilise support from higher echelons to accord him due “intervention and protection”?
Odin Tajué: Zamihan, what makes your transgression and iniquity absolutely reprehensible is that you are a preacher. Your very position has magnified your misdeed to astronomical proportions.
I have been following the news in Malaysia for more than six years now, but I cannot recall reading of any reports of religious leaders from the other faiths having spewed out vitriol and insults against the followers of religions other than theirs and ethnic groups to which they did not belong, or exhibited even a minuscule fraction of your arrogance.
Aries46: What reputation is Zamihan trying to salvage? The sultans’ actions have surely torn it to shreds.
In fact, his credentials as a preacher appear to have been buried both in Selangor and Johor following the royal order to the respective Islamic councils.
He stands accused of having disparaged the entire Chinese community for nothing more than to make a case for the Muslim-only launderette, thumbing his nose at the Johor sultan’s edict that bans such an outlet.
Zamihan has dug his own hole, and unless he repents and pipes down, he will not be able to claw himself out. That would be a bigger tragedy, whether or not he has a godfather.
Meerkat: You still have a reputation to sully? And still say you struggle for Allah after being reprimanded by the sultans?
Where did you get the revelation that people of other religions are dirty? Who taught you that? Which school? Which book?
Hplooi: People like him are dangerous. Look at his Facebook postings. Not only does he harbour dangerous animosity towards non-Muslims, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community (LGBT), and yes, liberals, he is also dead set against Muslims of other persuasions such as the Shias and the Ahmadiyas.
His animosity against others is devoid of logical reason and exist as a fevered paranoia against anything and anyone who do not agree with him. And he truly believes in his cause because he believes God has set him on a holy crusade.
The irony is he stigmatised Muslims who do not agree with him as 'Wahhabist' when it is our understanding that he is the Wahhabist (i.e. a Muslim who repudiate civilisational dialogue). That's what makes him dangerous.
Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim), and PM's Department no less, have been employing people like him for decades and we still do not know how many like him are going around the country radicalising Muslims.
Clever Vote: Ego gets the better of such bigot who is insistent on a world best known to him. No amount of debate will convince such a character.
The root of such problems starts with a government that flirts with religion to pursue its own self-serving political agenda.
Fair Play: He was embarrassed big time. He was told off in no uncertain term by both Sultan of Johor and Sultan of Selangor, and his preaching credential has been revoked in Selangor.
I doubt he dares step his foot in Johor. The only vestige of any pride left is to use the name of his God to justify his continued defiance.
But he has no platform to do so in Johor and Selangor. So, how, at least for the time being?
Thickskin: We have said this many times. In Malaysia, Islam does not have to be protected or have any self-appointed hero to struggle for it.
PM Najib Razak has given RM1 billion to Jakim every year. So, is there any need to struggle?
The poor, especially the kampong folk, have to struggle daily to put food on the table, especially now with GST (goods and services tax) an added burden.
Ravinder: Indeed, did God ever ask people to struggle for Him? For what? In what way is creating hatred against non-Muslims a "struggle for God"? Does Islam say that God did not create the non-Muslims?
Please struggle for the Muslims who are corrupt, who give birth and throw the babies away, who have sex with their own daughters, who are addicted to drugs, the mat rempits, the undisciplined school children in the sekolah menengah kebangsaan, and those who cheat Malays, etc.
Dont Just Talk: Muslim preacher Zamihan claimed that his reputation has been sullied by the Shah Alam MP Khalid but what reputation does he have when he was labelled an empty vessel by the Sultan of Johor.
If Zahiman does not know what an empty vessel means, it is 'tin kosong' which make lots of noise but has no substance.
Anonyxyz: If the royalty doesn't take a firm stand and action, all these clerics with their political masters will put the monarchy in danger.
These people are the real danger in turning Malaysia into a republic. All their comments and behaviour are in defiance to the royalty.

MA: Is it possible for the Chinese community in Malaysia to take a class action against Zamihan for outright lying and also for bringing shame and disrepute to their community? - Mkini
