Najib, Hadi to join forces again in Jerusalem rally next week

A mammoth gathering will be held at the Putra Mosque, next Friday to demonstrate a solidarity spirit in protesting the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, said Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
Zahid, who is also the home minister, said the gathering would involve Islamic and non-Islamic NGOs, to demonstrate their protest against the action by US President Donald Trump in recognising Jerusalem as the new capital of Israel.
“I urge Malaysians, including the NGO leaders regardless of religion, to gather at the Putra Mosque next Friday to give their full support to Malaysia’s efforts,” he said, when asked to comment on the Palestinian and Jerusalem issues.
When approached by the media after chairing the Cabinet Committee Meeting on Foreign Workers and Illegal Immigrants here today, Zahid said the meeting would encompass three speeches involving Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and an NGO representative.
At the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit, Najib was reported to have said that the OIC must be united in its efforts to reject any move to declare Jerusalem as the capital of Israel but, on the other hand, Jerusalem should eventually be the capital of Palestine.
The prime minister was reported to have said that Malaysia criticised and totally rejected the one-sided decision by the US to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
At the summit, Najib also called on the United Nations Security Council to implement its responsibility immediately by moving the resolution concerning the interests of Jerusalem.
