Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announce a slew of discounted goodies in conjunction with the launch of the Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat programme in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah today.
This includes a "buy one, get one free" 10kg bag of super grade rice for just RM20, instead of the regular retail price of RM23.80 per bag.
Utusan Malaysia also reported Najib as announcing that a whole chicken, 400g of Milo, or 30 eggs, can be purchased for RM5 each at the government sale.
"This is the benefit of attending government programmes, you can bring back rice, chicken and much more.
"This is part of the government's commitment to ensure that the people are not burdened by rising costs," he said.
The prime minister was also quoted as saying by Bernama that the Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat will be held at each parliament constituency at least twice a month. -Mkini
