Ex-PAC BN man seeks action against 1MDB bosses for 'perjury'

Former Public Accounts Committee member Abd Aziz Sheikh Fadzir has urged Putrajaya to take action against 1MDB CEO Arul Kanda Kandasamy and its board members for its misleading statements to the committee.
In a statement today, the Umno politician said legal action must be taken against all those who issued misleading statements so as to maintain the integrity of the PAC and Parliament.
However, he did not provide details of the alleged misleading statements.
Abd Aziz, the then-Kulim Bandar Baharu MP, was part of the PAC that investigated 1MDB.
He had on several occasions asked the government critical questions on 1MDB, with two of these questions in the Dewan Rakyat being rejected by the speaker.
Abd Aziz also stated that he was not surprised by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng's claim that Putrajaya had spent nearly RM7 billion to bail out 1MDB.
"This is because throughout testimonies by 1MDB and Finance Ministry officials to the PAC on the company's rationalisation plan, I was not convinced that it would work," he said.
Yesterday, Lim said the Finance Ministry had bailed out 1MDB to the tune of RM6.98 billion over the past year.
Payments to Abd Dhabi's International Petroleum Investment Company (Ipic) alone amounted to RM5.05 billion, said the minister, while the rest were meant for 1MDB's payment on interests. -Mkini
