Both of them may be in their 90s but there is no stopping Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Hong Kong-based billionaire Robert Kuok from their mission to save Malaysia.
The illusive Kuok earlier today spent some time to visit Mahathir at the Perdana Leadership Foundation in Putrajaya.
“I salute you for saving the country,” said Kuok in a video.
“Of course with Daim’s help,” he added, in reference to former finance minister Daim Zainuddin.
Mahathir, in response to Kuok, said: “I need your help now.”
Kuok was seen in a short video from the visit as having saluted Mahathir, while the latter responded with a smile.
Kuok arrived in Kuala Lumpur yesterday to chair a meeting of the Council of Eminent Persons.
The tycoon, together with Daim and three others, were appointed as advisors to the government on May 12.
The other members of the council are former Bank Negara governor Zeti Akhtar Aziz, former Petronas president Mohd Hassan Merican, and economist Jomo Kwame Sundaram.
The council has thus far announced the setting up of two committees on institutional reforms and 1MDB. -Mkini
