PETALING JAYA: Jamal Yunos will spend the next two days in lock-up, after police today obtained a remand order on the Umno division leader for the offence of showing his firearm on social media.
“The remand will end on Friday,” said Selangor Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Fadzil Ahmat.
The Sungai Besar Umno chief was arrested while being treated at a private hospital in the city.
Police said Jamal is being investigated under Section 34 of Arms Act, following a report against him on May 12.
Jamal was supposed to appear at the High Court tomorrow for a lawsuit against him by former Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah, now the Petaling Jaya MP.
Jamal, best known for organising counter protests during Bersih and Pakatan Harapan rallies, had accused the electoral coalition of links to terrorism. -FMT
