Report: Cash seized from Pavilion Residences totals RM120m

The counting of cash in various currencies confiscated from the condominium units in Pavilion Residences last Friday has been completed, with the final tally at RM120 million.
Sources told The Star Online that officers from the Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department completed counting the seized cash at the police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.
“The process of counting the cash started on Monday, as investigators pulled long hours just to ensure the process was done thoroughly.
“Some 30 bags of cash were counted by police personnel with the assistance of Bank Negara officers. The total amounted to around RM120 million,” the source was quoted as saying.
It was previously reported that the counting process began on the morning of May 21, with police being assisted by other agencies.
A source had also told The Star previously that the process was "tedious," as it involved many different currencies, and because officers had to record every banknote seized.
Last Friday, police seized 72 bags of cash and jewellery and 284 boxes of designer bags from two condominium units linked to former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak in their investigation into 1MDB.
Pavilion Residences was one of the six premises raided by the police. Police also raided Najib's residence at Jalan Langgak Duta in Kuala Lumpur and Seri Perdana.
Najib was reported to have lodged a police report claiming that those linked directly or indirectly to 1MDB funds abroad had made threats to his life and his family members.
"We have and will always ensure the safety of all, including the former prime minister. If there is a need to increase security, then we will look into it,” responded Fuzi.
