KUALA LUMPUR: Senior lawyer Muhammad Shafee Abdullah paid Najib Razak a visit at the latter’s home in Jalan Langgak Duta this evening and spent about 30 minutes with the former prime minister.
The visit comes a day before Najib is scheduled to appear again at the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission headquarters for questioning about the affairs of the government-owned company SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1MDB.
He was questioned on Monday for five hours, which he described as a continuation of an interview he had given two years ago while he was still in office.
Shafee had represented the government in Anwar Ibrahim’s sodomy appeal case, and has appeared in many other high-profile cases.
His car was seen entering the compound of Najib’s home at about 6pm. He spent about 30 minutes before leaving without speaking to the press.
Najib is at the centre of investigations into a multibillion-dollar scandal at 1MDB, which was founded by Najib, and which involves police in at least six countries, including the US.
Najib has denied any wrongdoing. -FMT
